Showing Classes  -  What to Wear

Ridden Classes

Show Ponies, Intermediate Show Riding Type, Hacks and Riding Horses

⦁    Plain navy jacket
⦁    Canary/Beige jodhpurs
⦁    Oxblood or brown jodhpur boots with jodhpur clips or elastic for children
⦁    Long leather black boots for adults
⦁    Crisp Shirt with neat collar
⦁    Tie – Red/,Navy, Striped etc, tied in a Windsor knot
⦁    Brown Leather gloves
⦁    Coloured
Brow band on the bridle

 

Show Hunter Ponies, Hunters and Working Hunters
⦁    Tweed Jacket
⦁    Canary/Beige jodhpurs
⦁    Oxblood or brown jodhpur boots with jodhpur clips or elastic for children
⦁    Long leather black boots for adults
⦁    Crisp Shirt with neat collar
⦁    Tie – Red/Navy, Striped etc, tied in a Windsor knot

⦁    Leather show cane/whip
⦁    Plain leather/plaited browband on bridle

 

Mountain and Moorland
⦁    Tweed Jacket
⦁    Canary/Beige jodhpurs

Lead Rein
It is always best to try and match theRiders colours to the leaders.  For example, if the Rider is wearing a tweed jacket then the Leader’s jacket should be in the same tweed (or at least trimmed in the same tweed.) Navy Jacket and coloured browband for Show Pony Lead Rein and Tweed Jacket and Plain leather/Plaited Browband for Show Hunter/Mountain and Moorland Lead Rein.
Female Leaders
⦁    Smart Tweed/Navy Jacket
⦁    Navy/Brown Skirt or Trousers
⦁    Frill Neck Shirt or Bib Stock
⦁    Tights
⦁    Loafer type Shoes
⦁    Leather Gloves
⦁    Smart Hat matching in colour to the rest of the outfit.

 

Male Leaders
⦁    Smart Tweed/Navy Suit Jacket
⦁    Navy/Cream Trousers
⦁    Collared Shirt
⦁    Tie – Tied in a Windsor knot
⦁    Smart Brown or Black Shoes
⦁    Gloves
⦁    Flat Cap/Bowler

 

In Hand Showing Riding

pony, hack and riding horse classes a coloured browband should be used.
In hunter pony, sports horse and hunter classes a plain 
browband
is more suitable. 

Colts may be shown in a brass decorated browband. 
Yearling fillies may be shown in
a
filly slip that has no bit.  

Broodmares are usually shown in a Pelham or double but a snaffle is acceptable.
